Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani led the graduation ceremony for the 48th batch of Qatar University (QU) students, marking the event at the QU Sports and Events Complex on Wednesday morning. The ceremony saw the attendance of high-profile figures including HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, alongside ministers, members of the QU Board of Trustees, QU Vice Presidents, students' guardians, and senior officials.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Amir expressed his pride in the achievements of the new graduates and wished them success in their future academic and professional endeavors. The Prime Minister also chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan on the same day, underlining the significance of the day's events.
In related diplomatic activities, HE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed engaged in a phone conversation with India's Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Additionally, HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi met with HE Mufti of Al Quds and the Palestinian Territories, Sheikh Mohammad Ahmad Hussein, who is currently visiting Qatar.
The day's diplomatic engagements also included the second round of political consultations between Qatar and the Philippines, held in Manila and chaired by HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi. Meanwhile, in Addis Ababa, meetings took place involving HE Prime Minister of Ethiopia Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali and HE Minister of State at Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi.
Furthermore, HE Minister of Labour, Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, held discussions with Somali Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Yusuf Mohamed Adan, as part of the Qatar-Somalia Joint Committee on Labour's ongoing cooperation.
The day also saw the official launch of the Qatar Trade and Treasury Transformation Summit 2025, inaugurated by HE Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, in the presence of business leaders and international participants. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change advanced its digitalization efforts by launching a new electronic platform for radiation-related licenses.
