Amir of Qatar Receives Credentials from Six New Ambassadors

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a session at his Amiri Diwan office on Wednesday morning to receive the credentials of six new ambassadors to the State of Qatar. This event underscores Qatar's ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations with countries around the world.

According to Qatar News Agency, HH the Amir also met with the outgoing French Ambassador to Qatar, Jean-Baptiste Faivre, at the Amiri Diwan office. This meeting marked the end of Faivre's tenure in Qatar, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between Qatar and France.

In a separate meeting, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani presided over the Cabinet's regular session at the Amiri Diwan. The meeting focused on various issues of national and international importance, highlighting Qatar's active role in global diplomacy.

Qatar expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The Qatari government urged both nations to exercise maximum restraint and resolve the crisis through diplomatic means, emphasizing the principles of good neighborliness.

Following a trilateral meeting in Doha on March 18, 2025, involving Qatar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Rwanda, representatives from several countries, including the United States and France, gathered in Doha. They reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability in the Great Lakes region of Africa.

Qatar has reiterated its support for the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) to help investigate and prosecute serious crimes committed in Syria since March 2011, showing Qatar's commitment to justice and accountability.

In health-related developments, Qatar participated in the thirteenth meeting of the Regional Subcommittee on Polio Eradication and Outbreaks at the World Health Organization's Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean via videoconferencing. This highlights Qatar's dedication to global health initiatives.

Qatar has also extended its support to the Syrian Civil Defense Organization, known as the White Helmets, by providing a comprehensive logistical assistance package. This includes specialized equipment for search and rescue operations, demonstrating Qatar's commitment to humanitarian aid.

HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, affirmed the Association of National Olympic Committees' commitment to engaging with National Olympic Committees in Central Asia. This involves initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable sports development and empowering young generations.

HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi met with HE Director-General for Energy of the European Commission Ditte Juul Jorgensen, emphasizing Qatar's role in global energy discussions.

Qatar's Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, held a meeting with Robin Vince, the President and CEO of the Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, reflecting Qatar's active engagement in international finance.

HE Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani met with his Syrian counterpart, Mohammed Yassin Saleh, during his visit to Damascus, indicating cultural diplomacy between Qatar and Syria.

In recognition of International Workers' Day, HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah honored distinguished workers at the ministry for their dedication to municipal services.
