BOGOTA: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani arrived in the capital Bogota today, marking the beginning of an official visit to the Republic of Colombia. This visit underscores the strengthening diplomatic ties between Qatar and Colombia, as both nations explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation. According to Qatar News Agency, prior to his arrival in Colombia, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani concluded an official visit to the Republic of Costa Rica. During the visit, HH the Amir engaged in talks with HE President of the Republic of Costa Rica Rodrigo Chavez Robles, focusing on boosting bilateral cooperation and establishing robust economic and political relations. The discussions took place in an official session held in San Jose, where both leaders expressed their commitment to the mutual interests of their nations. On the sidelines of the visit to Costa Rica, several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed to further reinforce bilateral cooperation. These agreements aim to enhance the economic and political ties between the two friendly nations, paving the way for future collaboration in various sectors. Following the fruitful discussions and agreements in Costa Rica, HH the Amir departed from San Jose, heading to Bogota for another official engagement. HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi in Tehran. Additionally, HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, held a meeting with HE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, highlighting the ongoing diplomatic engagements of Qatar on the international stage. In another development, HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, chaired the 41st meeting of the GCC Ministers of Interior in Doha.
