Animal Health Directorate prepares vaccination campaigns against foot-and-mouth disease and smallpox

Dr. Fajr Al Salloum, Director of the Animal Health Directorate at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, held a meeting with some livestock breeders to inform them of the Ministry’s preparations to begin the periodic vaccination campaigns that the directorate conducts and supervises.

The campaigns aim to limit the spread of foot-and-mouth disease and eliminate it on animal production farms in the Kingdom, to preserve and develop livestock.

A summary of the disease, recorded strains of the disease and the importance of activating vaccination programs to maintain veterinary health was presented.

Dr. Al Salloum said that the Epidemiological Investigation and Control of Animal Diseases programme initiative implemented by the ministry is proceeding according to plan, calling on livestock breeders to attend guidance seminars and meetings as it addresses their concerns.

The meetings and seminars discuss topics on the aspects of common animal diseases, prevention programs, and the vaccination program approved by the Ministry.

The ministry will receive any inquiries or requests in order to further develop services.
