Doha: Syria booked their spot in the Arab Cup FIFA Qatar 2025 group stage after a 2-0 win over South Sudan at Grand Hamad Stadium.

According to Qatar News Agency, Mohammad Al Hallak and Mahmoud Al Mawas scored in the 52nd and 59th minutes, sending Syria into Group A. They will join Qatar, Tunisia, and Palestine, who advanced earlier after beating Libya 4-3 on penalties.

The match opened cautiously, with limited chances. South Sudan threatened through Peter Chan and Mangar Kier. Meanwhile, Syria struggled defensively and found difficulties breaking into the final third, relying mostly on long-range efforts before heading to halftime at 0-0.
