Doha: The Arab League has expressed its condemnation of the Israeli bombardment of the town of Koya in the western countryside of Daraa in Syria, which resulted in the death and injury of several civilians. It reaffirmed its rejection of the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syrian territories.
According to Qatar News Agency, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit stated that these attacks represent a violation of Syria's sovereignty and appear to exploit the situation in Syria to divide its territories and incite conflicts.
He emphasized that the UN Security Council must fulfill its responsibility to stop the Israeli aggression on Syria and urge Israel to adhere to international law and the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement.
Furthermore, Aboul Gheit urged the international community to adopt firm and clear stances to deter the Israeli actions against nations and peoples of the region, reiterating the Arab League's solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic in confronting these Israeli actions, along with its support for Syria's sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity.
