The General Secretariat of the Arab League, in collaboration with the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, will host an event to launch the joint exploratory report on "Marital Relationship Assessment in the First Five Years of Marriage in the Arab World." The event will take place from July 2 to 4 in Cairo, Egypt. This report release follows the decision of the Arab Ministers of Social Affairs Council, No. 1,014, in its regular 43rd session in Egypt, which approved the final report of the exploratory study on "Marital Relationship Assessment in the First Five Years of Marriage in the Arab World" as a guiding document for member states. The study aims to identify factors contributing to the success of marital relationships during the first five years, explore challenges and issues faced by couples, and determine support mechanisms at the national and community levels for successful and stable marriages. It also invest igates the causes of early marital breakdowns and explores support strategies from various stakeholders to sustain marriages. Additionally, the study seeks to develop a plan for a guiding program to prepare couples for marriage in the Arab world. The study seeks to fill the existing knowledge gap regarding this type of research and cover significant family-related topics in Arab countries. The report serves as a model and scientific resource for future studies in the Arab world, providing evidence for decision-makers and family professionals to support policy and intervention development. In a related context, the Arab League General Secretariat, in cooperation with DIFI and the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Egypt, will organize a side event during the report launch. This event is part of the preparatory activities for the conference on the 30th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family (IYF+30), titled "Family and Contemporary Megatrends." The conference will be hosted by Qatar and organized b y DIFI from October 29 to 31. In a statement on Wednesday, the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Egypt stated that the side event will discuss the preparations for this conference, including progress on global and Arab levels regarding the four major contemporary trends identified by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, which are family and technological change, family and demographic change, family and urbanization and migration, and family and climate change.
