Doha: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and King Felipe VI of Spain stressed, during their meeting Thursday, the need to implement the two-state solution and immediately halt the war of extermination waged by the occupation forces against the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Arab League said in a statement that Aboul Gheit praised Spain's firm and just humanitarian and moral stances in supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the two-state solution. He also commended Madrid's ongoing efforts to halt the aggression on Gaza, as well as its provision of urgent humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians by increasing its contribution to the budget of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Aboul Gheit affirmed that the Arab League will continue to work to implement the two-state solution, establish a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, borders, and put an end to the war of extermination whose atrocities have exceeded all description.
For his part, the King of Spain reiterated his country's commitment to humanitarian principles and human rights, stressing the need to end the suffering of civilians in Gaza, ensure unhindered access for humanitarian aid, and support international efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
