According to Qatar News Agency, the only goal of the match came in the 68th minute, scored by Argentine player Thiago Almada. Reigning 2022 World Cup champions, Argentina, are now just one point away from securing a direct qualification spot for the upcoming tournament.
Argentina currently tops the standings with 28 points after 13 rounds. A draw in their upcoming match against Brazil on Tuesday would guarantee their qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
In another match, Ecuador defeated Venezuela 2-1, climbing to second place in the standings and moving closer to securing a World Cup berth. Brazil sits third with 21 points, just one point ahead of both Uruguay and Paraguay, while Colombia occupies sixth place with 19 points.
