Art of Debate, Argument Building Training Programme for GCC Youth Winds Down in Doha

Doha: The Ministry of Sports and Youth has wrapped up the Art of Debate and Argument Building training programme for GCC youth.

According to Qatar News Agency, the event was held in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the GCC and featured outstanding participation from the young people of the GCC states. The five-day program was intended to hone the skills of Gulf youth in the area of debate arts, reinforce their capabilities in critical thinking and rational packing up, in addition to encouraging them to engage in constructive dialogue and skills of persuasion.

The program broadly sought to empower the participants to internalize the principles and skills of this debate, advance their oratory skills, moderate panel discussions, and promote shared values and cultural understanding among the GCC youth. In addition, the program was interspersed with professional training workshops in the art of debate and argument building, as well as critical thinking skills amid interactive atmospheres that fostered the spirit of Gulf dialogue and collaboration.

Debate Instructor at QatarDebate's Arabic programs department, Abdulrahman Alkubaisi, highlighted that the program had been profoundly interactive among youth. He showcased their capabilities to engage in constructive discussions and explore senses of semblance and difference among their communities with a spirit of overture and understanding. The event mostly positions itself as a real platform to help young people upscale their dialogue skills and art of persuasion, Alkubaisi asserted. He hoped that this experience would be a springboard to broader Gulf conversational initiatives in the future.

Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Fawaz Abdullah Al Musaifari, affirmed that the program aligns with the national strategy for youth, which aims to empower Gulf youth and provide them with platforms that advance their intellectual and leadership capacities, in commensurate with the GCC's vision to invest in humans and upgrade their skills.

Programme Director, Nasser Mohammed Al Jabri, said the educational and training objectives had been achieved by virtue of the participants' commitment, constructive interaction, and the spirit of collaboration, which were the key hallmarks of this program. As the event wrapped up, several young participants said they were grateful to engage in a rich experience that bestowed upon them opportunities to refine their oration and debate skills, in addition to forging acquaintances with a wide swath of friends from various GCC states to have a unified message to serve their communities.

The organizing committee noted the success of this program and reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to backing young initiatives that bolster dialogue and consolidate the notion of understanding and youth solidarity among the GCC's youth.
