Ashghal and Scientific Club Unveil Fourth Edition of ‘Future Engineer’ Program for High School Students

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal), in collaboration with Qatar Scientific Club, has launched the fourth edition of the "Future Engineer" program targeting high school students. The initiative aims to familiarize students with various engineering specializations and fields through workshops across multiple disciplines, highlighting their importance and benefits.

According to Qatar News Agency, the program will run until July 23, offering participants a comprehensive engineering curriculum through specialized workshops and site visits across Ashghal departments. Students will engage in hands-on project work in the laboratories and departments of the Qatar Scientific Club.

During the first week, participants will receive both theoretical and practical training, including exposure to daily operations in departments such as Engineering Services, Information Systems, Quality and Safety, and Building Projects. They will also tour the Assets Sector building to learn about wastewater and road network monitoring and the role of technology in asset operation and maintenance.

In the second week, activities shift to the Qatar Scientific Club, where students will engage in workshops and apply their knowledge to innovative projects addressing real-world engineering challenges in Qatar. Training sessions will cover basic engineering concepts, teamwork, creative thinking, project planning and management, communication and presentation skills, and the use of 3D digital fabrication tools for building prototype models.

The program is designed to develop students' engineering skills and equip them with practical knowledge, shaping their future career paths within an engaging and interactive learning environment.

Commenting on the initiative, Fatima Al Kuwari, Head of External Relations at Ashghal, stated that the program reflects the Authority's commitment to community partnership initiatives. She emphasized Ashghal's ongoing support for the Future Engineer program, recognizing the importance of enabling students to directly engage with engineering work environments and gain early exposure to the profession.

Fatima Al Muhannadi, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Scientific Club, emphasized that the program aims to train and empower aspiring engineers by introducing them to various engineering disciplines aligned with labor market needs and preparing them to become innovative professionals.

Ghanem Al Kaabi, Head of Training and Development at Ashghal, noted the Authority's dedication to guiding high school students in selecting engineering disciplines that meet Qatar's evolving labor market demands. He highlighted the program's comprehensive training content, providing students with a practical and interactive introduction to the world of engineering.
