Asian Athletics Chief Confident in Asia’s Athletes Ahead of World Championships in Tokyo

Tokyo: HE Asian Athletics President Dahlan Al Hamad has expressed his full confidence in the ability of the continent's athletes to excel at the World Championships, which will begin on Saturday, in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, and continue until September 21. According to Qatar News Agency, more than 2,000 male and female athletes from over 200 countries will participate, competing for more than 100 medals in track and field events. Qatar is participating in the championship with a team of 12 athletes, most notably Olympic and world champion Mutaz Barshim and 400m hurdles champion Abderrahman Samba. HE Al Hamad stated in exclusive statements to QNA that the championship is the world's largest athletics event, and that holding it in Asia is an incentive for all Asian athletes to shine and win medals. This makes the competition fiercely competitive and records-setting. He added that the Asian Athletics Federation looks forward to the continent excelling in winning the largest number of medals and achieving success commensurate with the federation's efforts to develop and refine talent and implement the development programs set by the Asian Athletics Federation. He noted that Asia is experiencing its best organizational period, and all its federations are working in accordance with the Asian Athletics Federation's strategy in the continent's five regions (East Asia, West Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia), which has yielded and will yield many achievements in the current and future phases. The Asian Athletics President emphasized that the continent will have the greatest impact on the World Championships, thanks to its track and field champions, both male and female, and will achieve many records in the championship. He pointed to Qatar's distinguished champions, led by high jump icon Mutaz Barshim and Abdulrahman Samba, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, and India's Neeraj Chopra, alongside champions from China, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oma n, and host Japan. Al Hamad concluded his statements to QNA by saying that a distinguished edition of the World Championships, which kicks off on Saturday, in Tokyo, will be added to the Asian continent's rich record of achievements, records, and organizational success.
