Qatari Olympic and world champion Mutaz Barshim said he is happy for winning the gold medal in high jump within the Asian Games held in China's Hangzhou that will run until Oct. 8.
In press remarks after being crowned with the third gold medal, Barshim said winning this medal came by virtue of the big support he has been receiving from sports officials in Qatar, along with the great efforts and perseverance that culminated in this success.
He affirmed that he always aspires to achieve success in tournaments in which he represents Qatar, pointing out that he profoundly learns from all participations and he always strives to upgrade his capabilities to be in the superior level.
He added that he will exert all efforts to win in the tournaments, noting that an athlete should upgrade his physical and capabilities individually and he always does that personally.
Barshim called on all athletes to pursue a constant approach in trainings and never count on the medals they have achieved, but to continue working with perseverance, considering this as the optimal method to preserve the level that assists athletes to win colored medals, outlining that he has been competing to win gold medals and this was ultimately achieved after encountering difficulties and maintaining high concentration in the presence of powerful competitors
