Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has unveiled its Iftar fasting campaign for Ramadan 1446 AH, set to distribute 300,000 Iftar meals across nine designated squares throughout the state, with plans for further expansion.
According to Qatar News Agency, Muhammad Yaqoub Al Ali, Chairman of the Iftar committee at the Ministry of Endowments, emphasized that this initiative is part of the Ministry's efforts to foster community interdependence and collaboration, as encouraged by Islamic teachings. He acknowledged the significant contributions from benefactors and noted the remarkable participation of individuals eager to earn rewards and goodwill. Notably, two benefactors have pledged to cover the cost of Iftar meals in Muraikh and the Industrial Area, providing 30,000 meals during Ramadan.
Al Ali urged more benefactors to support the campaign, which will serve locations including Ain Khaled's "Thursday and Friday market," Al Sailiya's "new central market," Al Rayyan's "Eid prayer square," Al Wakrah "opposite the old Wakrah market," Al Khor's "Uthman bin Affan Mosque," Fereej Bin Omran's "Eid prayer square," and Al Aziziyah's "Eid prayer square."
With a meal costing QR23, contributors can choose to support any area nationwide through the provided link: https://www.awqaf.gov.qa/ftr. The designated squares will be equipped with tents following approved standards, and a series of religious activities will be conducted before the Maghreb prayer. The campaign primarily aims to strengthen community bonds and assist those in need in fulfilling their fasting obligations while alleviating the burdens faced by workers who struggle to prepare meals promptly.
