Awqaf Launches 4th Season of Ummah Forum in Doha

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs is set to inaugurate the 4th season of the cultural initiative, Ummah Forum, focusing on the knowledge of revelation this Tuesday. The event will begin with a seminar at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque, following the Isha prayer.

According to Qatar News Agency, the opening seminar will feature scholars from the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University. The discussion will center around three main themes: the certainty values and epistemological indicators of revelation knowledge, the methodological framework for rational inquiry with examples from Islamic heritage, and the referential framework for developing a visionary center that guides insight.

The second theme will delve into the role of the mind in the context of revelation knowledge. This includes the innovation of comprehension methods, the creation of perception tools, the interaction between mind and revelation knowledge as a pathway to scientific production, and the impacts of isolating mind knowledge from revelation knowledge.

The third theme aims to present a futuristic vision, seeking to anticipate future developments guided by revelation and the faculties of the mind.

Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, Director of the Department of Islamic Research and Studies at Awqaf, explained that the forum will include three additional seminars. These will explore revelation knowledge as the origin of epistemic production in Islamic civilization, revelation knowledge as a certain source of human societal laws, and revelation knowledge as a pathway to civilizational inheritance. Each seminar will address various aspects such as the origins and roots of epistemic production, the laws of continuous contribution, and the role of revelation in preparing contemporary Muslims for contributions to modern civilization.
