Riyadh, The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) has concluded its successful participation in the Fourth Gulf Cinema Festival, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The awards were distributed during the closing ceremony of the festival in which 29 films from various Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries participated. Bahraini artist Maryam Zeman won the 'Best Actress Award' for her role in the Bahraini film "May Ward" (Rose Water) directed by Mahmoud Al Shaikh. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, BACA President, congratulated actress Zeman on the GCC award, praising her efforts in enriching the cinematic movement in the kingdom. He stressed that the prestigious award is a high-level recognition of the advanced level reached by Bahraini arts, affirming BACA's commitment to continue encouraging cinematic talent in the kingdom in order to enhance the cultural movement. The fourth Gulf Cinema Festival, organised by the Saudi Film Commission, in cooperation with the GCC Secretariat G eneral, drew wide participation from the affiliates of the film industry in the GCC region. Maryam Zeman's award is the second recognition of Bahraini artists during this year's edition following the honouring of the Bahraini Director, Hussain Al Rifai, during the opening session as one of the leading figures in the GCC arts and culture scene. Several Bahraini films participated in the festival, including 'The Sea Bride', directed by Mohammed Ateeq, 'Close the Door!', directed by Saleh Nass, the documentary film, 'Sound of Feathers', directed by Maryam Abdulghaffar, and the documentary film, 'Vision of Promise-Salman bin Hamad', directed by Bahraini Director Eva Daoud, in addition to "May Ward" (Rose Water) films, directed by Mahmoud Al Shaikh.
