Manama:The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of the recent attack on the Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier “Al Mayeda,” which is owned by Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat). The incident occurred while the vessel was navigating through the Arabian Gulf, and Bahrain has labeled the attack as a significant threat to maritime safety, marine environments, and the security of global energy supply. Furthermore, it is seen as a violation of international law and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its full solidarity with Qatar. The Ministry supports all actions taken by Qatar to protect its security, vital interests, as well as the safety of its vessels and crews.
The Bahraini Ministry has urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take decisive measures to prevent such attacks from recurring. It emphasizes the need to hold those responsible accountable and to ensure freedom of navigation and safe transit through international waterways. This, in turn, would secure energy supplies, facilitate global trade flow, and promote regional and global security, stability, and sustainable development.
