Bahrain National Robotics Competition concludes with 354 student participants

Manama, Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the 13th edition of the Bahrain National Robotics Competition closing ceremony was held today. His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Deputy Chairman of GSA, and Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Education Minister, were present. The competition, held under the theme 'Allies of the Earth', was organised by the Ministry of Education and Britus Education, the national organiser of the World Robotics Olympiad. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Juma thanked HH Shaikh Khalid for his patronage and ongoing support of Bahraini talents, as well as the youth and sports movement in the kingdom. The minister expressed pride in the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for Bahraini youth with the follow-up of the government l ed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, and Prime Minister. Dr. Juma said that this year's competition saw a big participation, as the number of participating students increased from 294 students from public and private schools in the last edition to 354 in this year's edition. The number of student teams increased from 89 teams in last year's edition to 118 teams in this year's edition. The minister thanked Britus Education for its partnership with the ministry and its role in organising the competition and hosting the qualifying rounds. He also thanked the sponsors and all committees. Fatima Ahmed Kamal, the Chief Executive Officer of Britus Education, expressed pride in hosting 11-national competitions as the national organiser of the World Robotics Olympiad since 2023. She explained that this year's theme shed light on how humans impact nature and how robots can help people lead an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Participating in technology and robotics prog ramming competitions provides an opportunity for participants to develop skills in creative thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, and gain practical experience in modern technology, she said.
