The Kingdom of Bahrain has won first place in the BRICS Holy Quran Award held in Kazan, Russia, from July 24 to 26, 2024. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony on Friday evening, attended by Dr. Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hajeri, Sunni Endowments Council Chairman. Mohammed Sameer Mujahid claimed the top spot in the recitation category, representing Bahrain in a competition that saw participants from 20 countries worldwide. On this occasion, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Affairs, expressed Bahrain's pride in this distinguished achievement in a major international competition. He emphasised that this success reflects the passion of Bahraini youth for memorising, reciting, and learning The Holy Quran, supported by the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the continuous follow up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in promoting Holy Quran memorisation an d education. The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Affairs is committed to participating in international Holy Quran competitions throughout the year, through the efforts of the Holy Quran Affairs Directorate and various Holy Quran memorisation centres, by implementing a plan to train and prepare contestants at an international level.
