With this victory, Barcelona raised its tally to 24 points in first place, three points ahead of its traditional rival and reigning champion, Real Madrid, who sits in second. On the other hand, Alaves' points remain at ten, placing them in 12th position. In a second match, Atletico Madrid drew 1-1 with host Real Sociedad.
