Doha: The United States Army announced that it has found the body of the fourth US soldier, a week after he went missing in Lithuania.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement, the US Military indicated that the fourth soldier was found dead Tuesday afternoon in the city of Pabrade, eastern Lithuania. No further details were provided, and the soldier's identity has been withheld pending notification of the family.
On Monday, search and rescue teams recovered the bodies of three of the four missing US soldiers after retrieving the armored vehicle they had been traveling in from a swamp.
The four US soldiers and their armored vehicle went missing last Tuesday during a training drill near the Belarusian border. The vehicle was discovered the following day, submerged approximately five meters deep in a swamp within the training ground, prompting recovery efforts.
Lithuania, a NATO and EU member state, hosts over 1000 US troops on its territory.
