Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting, which took place on Wednesday morning at the Amiri Diwan. Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi conveyed the developments discussed and decisions made.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting began with the Cabinet lauding the positive outcomes of the Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit held in Doha under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The summit addressed the Israeli attack on Qatar, with the Cabinet recognizing the significant elements of HH the Amir's speech that highlighted the aggression's objectives and repercussions. The Cabinet emphasized the necessity of addressing the aggressive actions by Israel, which include ongoing conflicts, displacements, and interference in Arab states' sovereignty.
The Cabinet underscored the summit's success in conveying a unified Arab and Islamic stance against the state terrorism perpetrated by Israel. The unity was evident through the summit's participants and the final statement, which expressed unwavering support for Qatar's security and sovereignty. The Cabinet praised Qatar's responsible response to the attack, its commitment to international law, and its role in promoting regional stability and peace.
The Cabinet also expressed approval of the outcomes of the extraordinary Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) session in Doha, which condemned the Israeli aggression against Qatar. The GCC's final statement reiterated solidarity with Qatar, emphasizing that the security of GCC countries is indivisible and that any aggression against one is an aggression against all. The Cabinet highlighted the readiness of GCC countries to support Qatar against any threats.
Moreover, the Cabinet welcomed the UN Security Council's condemnation of the Israeli attack on Qatar and appreciated the UN General Assembly's adoption of the "New York Declaration" promoting the two-state solution for Palestine. The Cabinet acknowledged the collaborative efforts of Saudi Arabia and France in this context.
In its session, the Cabinet assessed various agenda items, including approving a draft law to amend provisions of Law No. 11 of 2016. This amendment aims to enhance the Audit Bureau's oversight capabilities and uphold integrity and accountability in public funds management. Additionally, a draft Cabinet decision was approved to amend service fees evaluation mechanisms, ensuring fairness and quality in government services.
The Cabinet also sanctioned multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with international partners. These include collaborations in legal, judicial, real estate, humanitarian, and diplomatic fields with countries such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Rwanda, Mauritania, Tanzania, and others. The Cabinet further approved air services agreements with the Solomon Islands and Dominica, and a protocol with Tajikistan regarding investment encouragement.
The meeting addressed the fourth annual report on the Permanent Committee for Punitive and Correctional Institutions' work, highlighting efforts to enhance rehabilitation programs and compliance with national and international standards.
