Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday afternoon. Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi issued a statement outlining the Cabinet's discussions and decisions. According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet began by expressing its appreciation for the successful outcomes of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's official visits to Costa Rica and Colombia from November 19-21. The Cabinet highlighted the fruitful discussions and agreements signed during these visits, which are expected to strengthen Qatar's relations with both nations and foster mutual investment opportunities. These efforts are aimed at enhancing cooperation across various fields, contributing to regional and international peace and security. The Cabinet also celebrated Qatar's top ranking in the region for the 2024 global governance indicators by the World Bank. Qatar achieved first place in political stability with an 84.36% rating and rule of law with an 80.19% rating. This accomplishment reflects Qatar's commitment to good governance and the wise policies implemented by its leadership. Further discussions included the Cabinet taking note of the Shura Council's approval of amendments to Law No. 15 of 2011 concerning combating human trafficking. Additionally, the Cabinet approved several draft decisions, including those related to public benefit works, strategic goods with military use, parking regulations for transport vehicles, and tobacco control measures. The Cabinet also endorsed a guide for public job descriptions and classifications and granted the Economic Zones Company (Manateq) the concession to develop a small and medium industries zone. Furthermore, the Cabinet approved a request for the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority to join the World Economic Forum and a grant agreement between the Qatar Fu nd for Development and GiveDirectly to support impoverished families in Rwanda. A memorandum of understanding was also approved to enhance sports cooperation with Guatemala. In conclusion, the Cabinet reviewed five reports and made decisions accordingly. These reports covered the Civil Defense Council's annual report for 2023, the National Civil Aviation Security Committee's work results for the first half of 2024, the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority's activities for the period ending March 2024, audited financial statements for 2023, findings from the Bridge for Cities 2024 event, and outcomes of the first session of the Qatari-Czech Joint Committee for Economic, Commercial, and Technical Cooperation.
