Cameroon’s Paul Biya Re-elected President for New Term

Yaound©: Cameroon's Constitutional Council on Monday announced the re-election of President Paul Biya for a new term in office. "The elected president is candidate Paul Biya," said Clement Atangana, President of the Constitutional Council, in a statement.

According to Qatar News Agency, Biya, 92, first assumed office in 1982 and has since been re-elected multiple times, particularly after the constitutional term limits were abolished in 2008. His strongest challenger in this year's election was Issa Tchiroma, a former government spokesperson and labor minister.
