Tunis, The Candidates for the Tunisian presidential election scheduled for October 6, 2024, will be able to submit their candidacy documents starting Monday, July 29. The submission period will extend until August 6, according to a press release issued by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE). Tunisian President Kais Saied has announced his candidacy for a second term, and dozens of politicians and public figures have also announced their intention to run in the presidential race, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported. The law requires candidates to collect a form of recommendation form from the headquarters of the commission in person to collect recommendations from voters. As of Friday, more than 80 people had applied to withdraw their nomination forms. According to the electoral law, candidates for the presidency must collect at least 10,000 recommendations from voters across at least ten electoral districts. Alternatively, they can gather recommendations from 10 members of parliament, the Council of Regions and Regions, or local, regional, or municipal councils. Meeting one of these criteria ensures candidates have sufficient support to qualify for the election. Source: Bahrain News Agency
