Central Bank of Oman Issues Treasury Bills Worth OR 9.7 Million

Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) announced that the total value of treasury bills allocated this week reached 9.7 million Omani rials.

According to Qatar News Agency, a statement issued by CBO on Monday explained that the value of 28-day treasury bills allocated amounted to OR 5.2 million, with an average accepted price of OR 99.712 per OR 100. The lowest accepted price reached OR 99.710 per OR 100, while the average discount rate was 3.76030 percent and the average yield was 3.77119 percent.

The value of 91-day treasury bills allocated amounted to OR 3 million, with an average accepted price of OR 99.803 per OR 100. The lowest accepted price reached OR 99.503 per OR 100, while the average discount rate was 3.86058 percent and the average yield was 3.89810 percent.

The value of treasury bills allocated with a maturity of 182 days reached OR 1.5 million, with an average accepted price of OR 89.200 per OR 100. The average discount rate was 3.60989 percent, and the average yield was 3.67606 percent.

The statement noted that the interest rate on repurchase agreements (repos) with the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) for these bills is 4.25 percent, while the discount rate with the Central Bank on treasury bill facilities is 4.75 percent.

Treasury bills are a short-term, guaranteed financial instrument issued by the Ministry of Finance to provide investment opportunities for licensed commercial banks. The CBO acts as the issue manager for these bills.
