The children of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Royal Endurance Team Captain, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, today participated in their first external endurance event successfully.
HH Shaikh Nasser’s follow-up and HH Shaikh Khalid’s participation motivated their children to perform well during the 20-km race, held as part of the Monpazier Endurance show in France.
On the occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser asserted that the participation of their children in their first European race contributes to encouraging them to carry on Bahrain’s endurance successes in the future, noting that the move reflects the success of the endurance sport in Bahrain.
“We set our goals years ago, and today we reaping the fruit. First, we instilled the love of horses among our children. Then, we followed up on them by training them and involving them in local races in Bahrain. Now, they are participating in their first European race thanks to the remarkable progress they are making. I am keen to continue encouraging and following up on them in the coming period,” HH said.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Nasser for HH’s efforts to encourage their children, highlight their distinguished capabilities and ensure their participation in their first European race, noting that His Highness’ interest has contributed to the success of their first overseas race.
HH Shaikh Khalid indicated that HH Shaikh Nasser has played a major role in preparing their children for external endurance competitions by organising local championships for them, wishing the young riders continued success.
His Highness added that their children’s European participation makes them more self-confident, and provides an opportunity for them to adapt to the European atmosphere, gain experience and showcase their capabilities.
The children of HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid were presented with trophies.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad will captain the Royal Endurance Team in the 160-km race of the Monpazier Endurance Show, along with jockeys Mohammed Al-Hashimi and Assim Abdulwahid.
HH Shaikh Nasser attended the veterinary examination, and was keen to meet Bahraini riders.
79 jockeys from many countries will take part in the 160-km race, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Algeria, France, Austria, Romania, Australia, Chinese Taipei, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, USA and Colombia.
