China successfully launched a new remote sensing satellite into space, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwest of the country on Sunday. The Yaogan-42 02 satellite was launched on board a Long March-2D carrier rocket and entered the preset orbit. The satellite will be used to carry out scientific experiments, land resource surveys, crop yield estimates, disaster prevention and relief work.
