China Successfully Launches New Satellite to Investigate New Optical Imaging Technologies

Doha: China successfully launched a new experimental satellite into space today from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Chinese news agency, Xinhua, reported that the Shiyan-31 satellite was launched at 6:00 p.m. (Beijing time) aboard a Long March-2D carrier rocket and successfully entered its predetermined orbit.

The satellite will be primarily used to verify new optical imaging technologies.

It is worth noting that this is the 599th launch mission carried out by the Long March series of carrier rockets.
