China’s Yuan Loan Growth Reaches USD 1.71 Trillion in First Three Quarters of 2026

Baku:Yuan-denominated loans in China increased by 11.52 trillion yuan, approximately USD 1.71 trillion, during the first three quarters of 2026, as reported by the People’s Bank of China (PBOC).

According to Qatar News Agency, by the end of September 2026, the total outstanding yuan loans reached 283.44 trillion yuan, marking a 4.8 percent increase compared to the previous year. The broad measure of money supply, M2, which includes cash in circulation and all types of deposits, was recorded at 359.63 trillion yuan, reflecting a 7.2 percent year-on-year rise.

M1, which encompasses currency in circulation, corporate demand deposits, personal demand deposits, and provisions from non-bank payment institutions, stood at 116.76 trillion yuan by the end of September, showing a 3.2 percent increase from the previous year. The outstanding aggregate financing to the real economy was 468.17 trillion yuan, up 7.1 percent year on year.

In response to economic shifts, the PBOC has implemented two rounds of structural monetary policy measures this year to support China’s transition to new growth drivers. The latest measures, introduced in September, involved cutting the one-year interest rate of the Pledged Supplementary Lending (PSL) facility from 1.75 percent to 1.5 percent, expanding PSL support, and increasing the relending facility quota for scientific and technological innovation by 200 billion yuan.
