Doha: The German Meteorological Service has warned of the potential formation of a dangerous ice event, semi-widespread across large parts of Germany starting Monday, due to freezing rain, with the likelihood of weather severity reaching a severe level, particularly in central and even eastern regions of the country. In parallel, Germany continues to face unbearable disruptions in transportation due to the harsh cold snaps, as reported by the public broadcaster, which highlighted ongoing traffic restrictions with numerous triggered points of failure on the roads.
According to Qatar News Agency, the railways also announced the cancellation of numerous train journeys after tracks were snarled by snow and rain. Consequently, further cancellations and extensions of movement restrictions are expected until the weather stabilizes.
Germany is experiencing cold snaps affecting highways within cities and multiple railway lines due to the accumulation of ice layers across all land transport routes and road surfaces.
