Doha: HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani met with HE Minister of State for Economy, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the Government of North Rhine-Westphalia, Paul Frederic Holler, and his delegation during their visit to the country. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and industry, while also addressing issues of mutual interest.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting highlighted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and NRW.Global Business GmbH. This agreement aims to boost economic and investment cooperation by supporting mutual investments and facilitating market entry for Qatari companies in North Rhine-Westphalia. Similarly, it will help companies from the German state expand into the Qatari market and the Gulf Cooperation Council region.
The memorandum outlines plans for NRW.Global Business to establish a representative office in Qatar. This office will promote economic exchange, support investment projects, and facilitate access to stakeholders on both sides. The agreement emphasizes cooperation in key sectors such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, digital services, smart industry, advanced manufacturing, defense industries, startups, research and development, and education and training.
A joint steering committee will be formed to oversee the implementation of the agreement and to establish the necessary legal, regulatory, and operational frameworks for the representative office. This strategic partnership builds on recent high-level reciprocal visits and aims to strengthen the sustainable economic relationship between Qatar and North Rhine-Westphalia.
