The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States held an extraordinary session of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, over two days, on the sidelines of the high-level International Forum on Youth, Peace and Security in Amman. Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said the agenda included an important topic on identifying the priorities of the Arab League member states for the executive plan of the 2023-2028 Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace and Security. Abu Ghazaleh noted that the General Secretariat worked for three years to come up with the draft strategy, the first of its kind in the Arab world and the world, in cooperation with all concerned parties from the youth ministries of the member states, and relevant Arab and international organizations to ensure the effective involvement of youth in all steps of developing the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace and Security. Secretary-General of the League of A rab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that the launch of the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace and Security (2023-2028) aims to enhance youth participation in international peace and security and urge Arab member states to consider ways to involve youth purposefully in future-making processes. He voiced his hope that this strategy will be an incentive to enhance the role of youth in political decision-making at the national and regional levels, and to be an effective contribution to achieving peace and stability in the Arab region Source: Qatar News Agency
