Cyprus Ambassador Highlights Qatar’s Development and Bilateral Ties on National Day

Doha: HE Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the State of Qatar, Andreas Nikolaides, emphasized that Qatar National Day is a significant occasion for celebrating the achievements and progress of Qatar. He conveyed congratulations to Qatar's leadership and citizens on behalf of Cyprus.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ambassador praised the accomplishments under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. He highlighted Qatar's efforts to diversify its economy, as outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030, which focuses on human development, social and cultural preservation, economic innovation, and environmental progress.

The ambassador also noted Qatar's foreign policy efforts in promoting peace and stability, acknowledging the mediation roles of HH the Amir and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, in the recent Gaza ceasefire.

Further, he recognized Qatar's humanitarian contributions through institutions like Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Charity, emphasizing their role in providing aid and expanding education access to underserved communities.

The ambassador pointed out the strengthening bilateral relations between Cyprus and Qatar, indicating growth in sectors such as economy, investment, education, and digital economy. He also mentioned the role of Qatar Airways in enhancing connectivity between the two nations.

As Cyprus prepares to assume the EU Council Presidency in 2026, the ambassador stated that Cyprus is committed to enhancing relations between the EU and Gulf states, focusing on cooperation and interconnectivity.
