Death Toll from Indonesia’s Landslide Rises to 25

Doha: Indonesian authorities announced that the death toll from a landslide in West Java province has risen to 25, after additional bodies were recovered during search and rescue operations. Search and Rescue Agency of Bandung said that rescue teams suspended search operations for safety reasons, given the unstable soil and the possibility of further landslides. All bodies have been transferred to the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI).

According to Qatar News Agency, the landslide occurred in West Bandung following days of heavy rain, and dozens of people remain missing. Landslides are a frequent hazard in Indonesia during the rainy season, particularly in mountainous and densely populated areas.
