Death Toll from Israeli Bombing of Displaced Persons’ School in Gaza Rises to 12 Palestinians

The death toll from Israeli bombing of a school housing displaced persons in Gaza City has risen to 12. The Civil Defense in Gaza confirmed in a statement Tuesday that its crews had recovered a number of bodies of the martyrs, some of them dismembered, while they were forced to leave a number of other martyrs under the rubble due to the lack of equipment. The statement noted that the martyrs and wounded were taking shelter in the school, stressing that the occupation targeted an entire part of the school, which housed about 700 displaced persons. Eyewitnesses said that the school building collapsed during attempts to retrieve the rest of the bodies of the martyrs, and that most of the martyrs and wounded were children, as the wounded were transferred to the Baptist Hospital in Gaza. Initial reports indicated that three Palestinians were killed and others were injured earlier Tuesday, when Israeli warplanes bombed a school housing displaced persons west of Gaza City. This is not the first time that the oc cupation army has targeted schools housing displaced persons in the Gaza Strip, as it bombed the /Al-Tabiin/ school in Gaza City with three missiles during the dawn prayer on August 10, which caused the martyrdom of more than 100 Palestinians and the injury of 150 others.
