The number of victims as a result of the fires that swept the areas in southeastern Turkiye rose to 11 dead and 78 injured. The Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, said in a post on the (X) platform that 11 people died and 78 others were injured as a result of a fire that broke out in harvested agricultural lands between the states of Diyarbakir and Mardin. Koca added that the specialized teams in the two provinces were able to extinguish the fire, pointing to the continuation of cooling works in the area, while Yilmaz Tun, the Turkish Minister of Justice, announced that a judicial investigation had been opened to uncover the circumstances of the fire. Earlier Friday, the Turkish Minister of Health revealed that fires broke out in the fields located between the regions of Cinar in Diyarbakir Province and Mazidagi in Mardin Province, noting that these fires were brought under control thanks to the efforts made by firefighters. Last week, Canakkale witnessed several forest fires, amid strong winds a nd high temperatures, and maritime navigation was suspended for a few hours in one direction in the Dardanelles Strait, northwestern Turkey, due to a forest fire that broke out in a field overlooking the strait, and its scope expanded due to the winds.
