Department of Meteorology Warns of Strong Winds Offshore

Doha: The Meteorology Department has issued a warning in its daily weather report regarding strong winds expected in certain areas, as well as high sea conditions. Offshore conditions will include scattered clouds until 6:00 PM.

According to Qatar News Agency, inshore weather will vary from moderate temperatures to relatively cold during the daytime, with slight dust occurring in some areas. As night falls, the temperature is expected to drop, becoming cold with some cloud cover.

The wind patterns inshore will start as southwesterly at speeds of 03-10 KT, shifting to northwesterly winds at 10-20 KT, with gusts reaching up to 30 KT in some areas by the afternoon. Offshore, winds are anticipated to be northwesterly at 18-28 KT, with gusts reaching 38 KT in certain areas by the afternoon.

The sea state inshore is predicted to be between 2-4 FT, occasionally rising to 5 FT. Offshore conditions are expected to range from 5-9 FT, increasing to 12 FT in specific areas by the afternoon.

Visibility inshore is forecasted to be between 04-10 km, whereas offshore visibility will range from 5-9 km.
