Department of Research and Islamic Studies Launches Book at Doha International Book Fair by Dr. Mostafa Bouhbouh

Doha: The Department of Research and Islamic Studies at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has introduced the newest volume in its Kitab Al-Ummah series (Issue No. 207), titled "Principles of Maqasid and Their Applications in Voluntary Work" by Dr. Mostafa Bouhbouh.

According to Qatar News Agency, the launch took place as part of Awqaf's participation in the 34th edition of the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) at the Cultural Salon within the exhibition venue. The book presents an analytical study focused on the foundational objectives of Islamic law (maqasid al-shariah) and their application in volunteerism.

The publication aims to provide a modern framework for integrating these principles into voluntary initiatives to enhance their ethical and societal impact, drawing legitimacy from the Holy Qur'an, the Prophetic Sunnah, and principles of Islamic law. It is essential to ground these efforts in legitimate jurisprudential foundations to advance and guide them toward greater efficacy.

HE Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, Director of the Department of Research and Islamic Studies at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, praised Dr. Mostafa Bouhbouh's effort in preparing this study on Maqasid, particularly regarding maqasid-based principles. He highlighted that voluntary work is an authentic Islamic virtue, and the ideal application of these principles contributes to its elevation and refinement.

His Excellency emphasized that voluntary work should be continually guided by Sharia-based frameworks and contemporary ijtihad. The book promotes a practical jurisprudential approach to charitable work, stressing the importance of understanding fiqh Al awlawiyyat to effectively prioritize volunteer and relief efforts and ensure optimal resource allocation.

Additionally, the book advocates raising public awareness of the value of voluntary work and promoting its culture through conferences, seminars, and training programs aimed at preparing new leaders to advance the sector and align with contemporary developments.
