HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met on Wednesday with HE State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi, on the sidelines of the third meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, currently held in China.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries and developments in Afghanistan, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
For his part, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated the Chinese side on the success of the Winter Olympics Games. He also praised the development of Qatari-Chinese relations and partnerships in various fields and China's stances towards the State of Qatar and the Arab issues, especially the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution.
In turn, HE Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the role of the State of Qatar as a major international player in the field of mediation and achieving peace, expressed appreciation for its efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Afghanistan. His Excellency also praised the economic relations between the two countries and Qatar's support for the Belt and Road Initiative.
