Doha: The Qatar Shooting and Archery Association has unveiled the details of the Nishan Ramadan Shooting Championship, which will be held at the Lusail Shooting Complex during the holy month. The event is organized under the patronage of HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani and will include more than 250 participants, encompassing members of the Qatari national team as well as amateurs.

According to Qatar News Agency, the announcement was made during a press conference at the Association's headquarters. The event was attended by HE the tournament's director Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman Al-Thani, head of the technical committee for the championship Noorah Al Hakami, and Hassan Yousef Al Obaidly, Director of Programs at the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM).

In his address, HE the tournament's director Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman Al-Thani stated that Nishan is one of the largest Ramadan and community tournaments of the season. This year's prize pool has been increased to QR 550,000, surpassing last year's awards. He expressed gratitude to Daam for sponsoring the tournament for the second year in a row.

He further mentioned that the efforts of the Association, Al Rami Sports Club, and the crucial support of Daam have ensured the success of the Nishan Championship even before its commencement. The event has attracted over 250 participants across various amateur categories, including men, women, over-16 juniors, and, for the first time, a senior category for participants over 65 years old. The senior category will feature air pistol and rifle events on March 12 with more than 40 competitors.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman Al-Thani also emphasized the importance of the Nishan Championship for the association. It plays a key role in identifying and nurturing young Qatari talent in shooting sports, offering them the experience needed to join national teams. Moreover, the championship serves as excellent preparation for Qatari national team players ahead of upcoming international competitions.
