London: The Director of the Council for Arab-British Understanding, Chris Doyle, emphasized the significance of the visit by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the United Kingdom, underscoring the deep bilateral relations between the two nations. He highlighted Qatar's prominent role in efforts to resolve Middle Eastern conflicts and the importance of Qatari investments in supporting the British economy. According to Qatar News Agency, Doyle stated that the visit is an important moment to strengthen the strategic relationship between Qatar and the United Kingdom. The two countries share close ties across economic, military, and cultural fields, rooted in a long-standing relationship. Doyle added that Qatar is a key player on both global and Middle Eastern stages, with significant interests in the United Kingdom, reinforcing bilateral relations and mutual cooperation. He emphasized the importance of strategic dialogue on issues such as defense and energy, pointing out Europe's reliance on Qatari energy imports, including gas supplied to the UK via South Wales. He further noted the importance of addressing the future of the Middle East, highlighting the region's deteriorating situation over the past fourteen months, marked by tragedies, atrocities, and significant tensions. Doyle praised Qatar's mediation efforts in conflicts like the Gaza Strip ceasefire, acknowledging the challenges posed by intense regional tensions and the failure of some international actors to pressure Israel into fulfilling its international law responsibilities. The Director highlighted Qatari investments' crucial role in supporting the British economy, noting the United Kingdom's attractiveness for foreign direct investment due to its economic stability. He expressed optimism for mutually beneficial investment partnerships and an increase in Qatari investments, which would strengthen the strategic relations between the two countries.
