Director of the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza Strip Dr. Marwan Al Sultan appealed to the World Health Organization and the international community to assist hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza. He warned of a complete paralysis of the health system in the region due to attacks on medical facilities and the severe restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation forces, which he described as an early death sentence for patients seeking treatment at the hospital. In statements to Qatar News Agency , Dr. Al Sultan said that hospitals in the region are facing multiple crises. On the one hand, they are operating far beyond their designated capacities with extremely limited resources, lacking the necessary fuel to run hospital departments and medical equipment. He added that most of the cases arriving at the hospital are critical and require urgent surgical intervention. Dr. Al Sultan added that the hospital was operating under extreme emergency conditions, having declared a state of alert in all hospit al departments after receiving 80 injured patients at the same time. He also said that it was difficult for the collapsing healthcare system to function under these extraordinary conditions, especially with the high number of injuries due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza. He noted that most of the injuries arriving at the hospital are highly complex and require intensive care. He mentioned that the surgery department has been conducting urgent surgeries continuously from 8 AM until 4 AM without stopping, to save the lives of those injured from Gaza and its northern areas. With the announcement that hospitals in Gaza City are out of service due to the advance of occupation forces in surrounding areas, the medical teams at the Indonesian Hospital are now responsible for providing services to thousands of residents in Gaza and its northern areas. Dr. Al Sultan stressed that the current situation threatens the collapse of the health system unless the hospital receives the necessary fuel to operate gen erators, along with very scarce medical supplies. The occupation forces have not allowed the entry of medical supplies even with the arrival of medical delegations to hospitals in northern Gaza, according to Dr. Al Sultan, who recently received Arab medical delegations at his hospital. He noted that medical teams have been working around the clock for the past 10 months and have also faced bombings and displacement like other Palestinian residents in Gaza. Dr. Al Sultan concluded his remarks to QNA by stating that if they are not provided with fuel, equipment, and medical supplies amidst the large number of injuries, many who need urgent surgeries will face an early death sentence. The Indonesian Hospital is one of the main hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip, having been recently rebuilt and reopened after being destroyed by occupation forces during their ground invasion at the end of last year.
