Doha: Al Ahli grabbed their first win defeating Al Wakrah 5-3 in Week 4 of the 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Al Thumama Stadium on Saturday. The victory marked Al Ahli's first points (three) of the season, while Al Wakrah's tally remained at seven points.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Ahli's goals were credited to Fahad Waad with an own goal in the eighth minute, Michel Vlap who scored twice in the 27th and 72nd minutes, Suhaib Gannan in the 42nd minute, and Julian Draxler in the 89th minute. For Al Wakrah, Redouane Berkane scored in the 16th and 46th minutes, and Amin Zahzouh converted a penalty in the 35th minute.
Al Wakrah experienced an early setback when Waad inadvertently headed a corner kick into his own net. The Blue Wave responded with Algerian player Berkane shooting past the diving goalkeeper. Vlap, a recent Dutch addition to Al Ahli's squad, showcased his skills to make it 2-1, but a penalty by Zahzouh equalized the score at 2-2.
Gannan's strike just before halftime put Al Ahli back in the lead at 3-2. Al Wakrah equalized again when Berkane scored from a Zahzouh assist, making it 3-3. Al Ahli forged ahead as Vlap scored from a Draxler assist, and later, Draxler himself secured the win with a shot from the center of the box, finalizing the score at 5-3.
