Doha Bank Stars League: Al Rayan Beat Al Shahania 5 – 1

Al khor: Al Rayyan regained their footing in the Qatar Stars League (Doha Bank League) with a resounding 5-1 victory over Al Shahania in their rescheduled seventh-round match played today at Al Khor Stadium.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Rayyan's Brazilian striker, Roger Guedes, scored four goals in the 6th, 40th, 45+2nd, and 80th minutes, with the latter being a penalty kick. His compatriot, Wesley Ribeiro, added another goal in the 65th minute. Mohammed Majid scored Al Shahania's lone goal in the 56th minute.

The team bounced back from their heavy 5-1 defeat against Al Sadd in the previous round, bringing their points tally to 16 and reclaiming fourth place. Al Shahania remain at the bottom of the table with four points.

Al Rayyan dominated the early stages of the match, needing less than six minutes to open the scoring. Mohammed Alaa delivered a cross that Roger Guedes expertly headed into the net, giving his team an early lead.

Al Shahania showed improvement after initially struggling to penetrate Al Rayyan's defense. Belgian Francesco Antonucci nearly equalized with a powerful free kick in the 16th minute, but goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nada made a fine save. Then, in the 22nd minute, Dutchman Petros Amroesvoort's header went just wide of the post.

Al Rayyan retreated into their own half under continued pressure from Al Shahania, but relied on counter-attacks. One such counter-attack resulted in a second goal when Ahmed Alaa surged forward from midfield and passed to Roger Guedes, who slotted the ball home to extend Al Rayyan's lead in the 40th minute.

In stoppage time, Roger Guedes scored his third goal of the match, capitalizing on a pass from Portuguese player Thiago Silva and converting it in the second minute of added time (45+2), securing a comfortable 3-0 lead for Al Rayyan at halftime.

Al Shahania resumed their attack at the start of the second half, managing to reduce the deficit through a header from Mohammed Majid following a corner kick in the 56th minute. Muath Al Wadiyya came close to scoring a second goal with a low shot that went just wide of the post in the 60th minute.

Al Rayyan capitalized on their opponent's attacking push, scoring their fourth goal when a pass from Portuguese player Thiago Silva reached Brazilian Wesley Ribeiro, who dribbled past several defenders before unleashing a powerful shot into the net in the 65th minute.

Substitute Mustafa Al Sayed won a penalty, which Roger Guedes converted successfully, scoring his fourth goal of the match and Al Rayyan's fifth in the 80th minute.

The final minutes saw no further goals, and the match ended with a resounding 5-1 victory for Al Rayyan.
