Doha Forum/ QFFD Discusses Health Needs of Women in Conflict Areas

Doha, – As catalysts in identifying innovative solutions, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) participated in the 2023 Edition of the Doha Forum, where an interchange of ideas and discourse towards policy making and action-oriented recommendations were made.

Under the banner of Women in Conflict Zones and to discuss critical challenges facing women in our world, QFFD co-hosted a high-level Side Panel with the Global Fund (GF) titled: “Exploring Innovative Solutions to Address Critical Health Needs for Women in Conflict Settings.” During the event, it was determined that women and girls are often disproportionately impacted by communicable diseases due to numerous socio-economic and cultural factors. To raise awareness and accelerate actions, QFFD, with the support of GF, invited participants from various sectors, including government representatives, international organizations, NGOs, and healthcare professionals, to explore and deliberate on strategies and initiatives designed to enhance healthcare delivery to women and girls facing the challenges of conflict and crisis.

HE Director General of QFFD Khalifa Al Kuwari said, “Meeting women’s health needs and improving gender equity is not only a moral imperative, but an all-round smart solution for the individual, society, and economic prosperity. A woman’s health lays the foundation for her children’s health, her family, her community, and for generations to come.” QFFD will continue to ensure change and security through giving hope and promoting peace and justice through sustainable and inclusive development.
