Doha: The meetings of the heads of the GCC basketball federations and the board of directors of the Gulf Basketball Association will take place in Doha on Thursday. Organized by Qatar Basketball Federation, the meetings will be attended by heads and representatives of the Gulf basketball federations, along with prominent sports and administrative figures. They are expected to feature extensive discussions on the future of the game in the Gulf and Arab region, and ways to improve its technical and organizational levels to keep pace with the significant developments in basketball globally. According to Qatar News Agency, the meetings will explore ways to activate and develop participation in Arab championships, enabling Arab teams and clubs to compete at the continental and global levels and helping them keep pace with the tremendous developments in modern basketball. Proposals for enhancing cooperation with the Arab and Asian basketball federations will also be reviewed, along with discussions on coordinating the schedules of Gulf championships and expanding the base of participation in age-group championships, particularly in 3x3 competitions, which are witnessing growing interest in the countries of the region. Secretary-General of the Gulf Basketball Association Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari stated that the meetings represent an important milestone in unifying visions among the GCC federations and reflect their commitment to working as a team to develop the game and enhance its regional and international presence. In a press statement, Al Kuwari said that these meetings are within the framework of ongoing coordination between the Gulf federations and affirm their shared commitment to improving basketball in the region, whether through continental championships or technical and administrative programs, by developing a unified vision that contributes to achieving Gulf sports integration. Al Kuwari praised the efforts of the Qatar Basketball Federation in hosting this important event, appreciating the significant supp ort provided by the State of Qatar to Gulf and Arab sports through its hosting of major events and tournaments. He emphasized that Doha has become a preferred destination for sporting meetings and events, thanks to its distinguished infrastructure and highly professional organization.
