Doha Legal Forum to Enhance Legislative Environment and Investment Opportunities in Qatar

Doha: Director of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Ministry of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al Khaldi, affirmed that the first edition of the Doha Legal Forum, scheduled for January 26-27 in Doha, is set to be the largest legal event ever held in Qatar. Al Khaldi highlighted the forum's role as a high-level intellectual platform that will bring together policymakers and legal scholars worldwide to discuss legislative and judicial developments amid technological, social, and economic changes driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Khaldi explained that the forum aims to showcase Qatar's efforts in creating an investment-friendly legislative environment, aligning with the Third National Development Strategy and the country's public policies. The theme, "Emerging Trends and Future Outlooks," underscores a forward-looking approach to evaluating the latest comparative legislation and enhancing legislative projects and public policies, especially in technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

Al Khaldi emphasized the forum's contribution to boosting investment confidence by highlighting the judiciary's role and efficient justice delivery in supporting the business environment. He pointed out that the forum's timing amid regional economic competition underscores the importance of presenting Qatar's legislative programs and initiatives designed to attract foreign investment.

The forum's alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Ministry of Justice Strategy 2025-2030 was noted by Al Khaldi. He added that the biennial event facilitates expertise acquisition, international networking, and partnership building, positively impacting the justice system's development and enhancing legal service quality to meet global standards.

The forum will cover emerging legal issues, particularly in digital transformation and AI, through specialized sessions. These include discussions on the Legal Regulation of Financial Services Technologies (FinTech) and the Legal Regulation of AI Technologies, featuring legal experts and scholars from several countries.

Al Khaldi noted the forum's wide international participation, with high-level attendees including six ministers of justice, over 40 speakers from 12 countries, and more than 800 participants. This provides a unique opportunity for experience exchange, learning from best practices, and developing recommendations for legal reform and modernization.

He affirmed that the forum's recommendations will be seriously considered for application in legislative initiatives, aligning with the Ministry of Justice's policy of leveraging specialized conference and workshop outcomes.

Dr. Al Khaldi emphasized the Doha Legal Forum's significance for the legal community in gaining expertise and building professional networks. He encouraged participation from legal professionals and investors, highlighting the forum's role in enhancing Qatar's legislative environment and attractiveness as an investment destination.
