The 28th meeting of GCC culture ministers, held in Doha, recognised Dr. Dalal Al Sherouqi and photographer Abdulla Al Khan for their cultural contributions alongside other notable Gulf figures. Dr. Al Sherouqi was honoured for her work in heritage studies. She is one of Bahrain's leading researchers in popular culture and traditions, with significant contributions in documenting Bahrain's national heritage through numerous books and studies. Her work includes lectures, television programmes, and in-depth research on traditional Bahraini cuisine and clothing. She has previously been recognised for her cultural efforts in Bahrain and abroad. Abdulla Al Khan was celebrated for his contributions to visual arts, specifically photography. Born in Muharraq in 1937, Al Khan began his career at BAPCO and later specialised in architectural photography after studying at Ealing Art College in London. He is renowned for documenting Bahrain's history through photography, covering political, social, cultural, and economi c life in the kingdom and the wider Gulf.
