Draw Places Qatar in Group B of Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship

Manila: The draw for the 2025 Men's Asian Volleyball Championship was held today in Manila. The tournament will be held in Bahrain from June 17-24, with the participation of 12 Asian teams. The draw placed the defending champion, Qatar, in Group B alongside Australia and Kazakhstan, in one of the strongest groups of the tournament.

According to Qatar News Agency, Group A includes Bahrain, Indonesia, and Thailand, while Group C consists of Pakistan, Chinese Taipei, and the Philippines. Meanwhile, Group D includes South Korea, Vietnam, and New Zealand. The tournament's format stipulates that the top two teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals, which will be played in a knockout format, and the remaining rounds will continue until the final.

The Qatari national team won the title in June 2024 under the name Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup before the name was changed to the Asian Cup, after defeating Pakistan in the final, which gives the team a strong motivation to retain the title.

It is noteworthy that President of the Qatar and West Asian Volleyball Federations and Executive Vice-President of the Asian Volleyball Federation Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, participated in the AVC Executive Committee meetings in the Philippines, chaired by the AVC's President Ramon Suzara, and attended by several members of the Executive Committee.
